Exotic wood – the wood-plants overview

We can offer different kinds of exotic wood,  like BANGKIRAI, MASSARANDUBA, IPE, CUMARU, TATAJUBA, MERBAU, AZOBE, IROKO, WENGE, BUBINGA, SAPELE.

Iroko - Chlorophora excelsa

Whitish wood Iroko is yellowy white in colour, whereas the core wood is golden orange, sometimes turning to shades of brown. This kind of wood has joined groins and is slightly glossy, it has a quite ordinary, slightly rough texture. Iroko growes in western Africa. It´s a medium heavy wood, especially resistant to the deformation. Charakteristic of its natural stability, which  makes of it an ideal materiál for the wooden floors.

The characteristic :

Iroko wood is naturaly resistant to decay and is famous for the high resistence to termite. This wood is very well predisposed to drying out. In the floor utilization is the wood from the  Iroko rough and resistant. It´s approximately for 25%  harder than the wood from Americkan oak.

Processability :

The wood Iroko is easy to cut and fix it with nails, also it´s easy to fix it with the glue and last but not least- it´s a good material for floor production.

Bilinga – Nauclea diderrichii

It represents the lumber of the highest quality, available for indoor and outdoor utilization. It´s used for on an average burdened buildings constructions. Bilinga is a medium heavy duty wood, that mechanical abilities are better than the beech or the oak have.

Bilinga is highly valued for its great mechanical abilities and high resistance to dry rot and moulds. Ussage: carpenter´s constructions, resilient floors, furniture, inner and outside facing, petit buildings etc.

In the case of outside facing, the wood has to be protected by impregnation against the humidity.

Padouk Africal - Pterocarpus soyauxii

Padouk dryes out well and is minimally deforming. The wood is heavy and has high firmness in bending and pressure – it´s not available for the bending. For the utilization is incredibly stable in the shape and very well processable. It´s highly durable and it´s famous for its resistence to decay.

Colour :

Freshly pruned core wood has very remarkable, lively bloody colour, which is gradually changing to dark purple-brown with red annealing. The core wood is sharply separated from straw – coloured whitish wood.

Texture:

The fibre is straight or spiral alternating  and the texture could be from medium rough to very rough.

Utilization :

Large furniture, veneered utilization, floor parquet blocks, very decorative wood, decorative interior complements, inner and outside facings.

AZOBE - Lephira Alata

The wood-plant Azobe can be compare to iron or concrete. In Africa Azobe is used for the supporting and constructions of bridges and for the production  of railways sleepers. Opposite to iron has that advantage, that it doesn´t need protective paint and is resistant to all weather conditions. Core wood azobe is one of the most durable woods, regarding the resistance to  water and humidity, also to mould, decay and fire. This kind of wood is considered as an indestructible.

It´s mostly used for very burdened floors, pavement small blocks, staircases and the parquets.

BUBINGA - Guibourtia demeusei

Beautiful thick hard wood. Bubinga has a pink coloured background with darker violet spots. The structure and the colour are quite cohesive. In mature age has Bubinga rich vine-red colour, with remarkable  structure. Bubinga is long-life and resilient wood, it´s harder than Teak and Padouk. For its hardness and durability is favoured for the production of massive wooden floors. It looks like the Palisandr.

Makoré - Tieghemella heckelii, Tieghemella africana

Makoré is a very high quality and beautifull wood with remarkable fiber. In this kind of wood could appear irregularly veining of darker colour. The woood is mostly with straight fibers, at the same time some pieces could have striped or spoted graining. Alltogether with the high, natural gloss, the wood becames very decorative.

The texture of the wood is much more fine and regular,  compared to Mahagon.

Makoré is a very resistant wood. Beautifully coloured, with remarkable fine graining kresbou. The wood can dry out quite quickly and has a low inclination to the deformations.

Makoré very suitable for the outdoor and indoor furniture, floors, staircase, inside or outside and facing.

    SAPELLI - Entandrophragma cylindricum

Sapelli is one of the classical african woods. It´s a hard wood with beautifull and remarkable fiber. The colour range of the wood goes from the light brown-red till the red and brown. It´s a very favourite wood for the production of utility furniture.  It´s durable and that is  why it´s used for the floors.

Another utilization : ordinary furniture, interior  and exterior joinery, facing, floors.

    WENGÉ - Millettia laurentii

So this is a real classic in between the africal woods, beautifull and resilient wood-plant. Wengé is famous also as palissandre du Congo.

During its usaage it is stable. Wengé has a high strenght in bending and it´s famous for its impact tenacity and the middle stiffness. It has a bad precondition for bending, but is highly resistant to the chafe. This durable wood is available for the manual or machine shapeing.

Wengé has a high natural resistance to the chafe, and that is why it finds the best utilization is for floor s covering in the public buildings or where is highly frequent "on foot" ussage. Dark chocolate brown colour is limiting the colouring of those floors to a dark hue.
